ESR has got prognostic value only in presence of evidence of activity of a disease. It is not used for diagnostic purpose. In absence of any positive signs you need not co relate ESR only to anythig. Test for Rheumatic factor, Anti Streptolysin etc. If anything suggestive is reported then you may consult after that.
