Ipill is a form of emergency contraception and contains the hormone progesterone. Depending upon where you are in your cycle it works by inhibiting ovulation or making the endometrium unfavorable for implantation and the cervical mucus thick. It is most effective if taken within 24 hours of unprotected sexual intercourse in order to prevent a pregnancy. You can take it up to 72 hours but the efficacy decreases the longer you leave it. Common side effects are nausea, irregular bleeding, changes in period and abdominal pain. It has no long term effects on fertility.
