I recently did my echo where the IV septal thickness came 14mm and it good systolic function with reduced diastolic compliance . I am having my blood pressure around 140/90 and sometimes it's 138/85 rarely 145/92 . I don't take any anti hypertensive and I am not diabetic. I have borderline high cholesterol. Am in in problem? Hi, you are having a diastolic dysfunction of heart. If it is in grade 1 or grade 2 you won’t need any medication. Only BP control below 130/80 will be sufficient. Lifestyle is the most essential step for heart issues. Borderline cholesterol can be managed with dietary modification. Try following non medicinal steps for 1-2 months. Get an echocardiogram and lipid profile repeated If you have same diastolic dysfunction of grade 3 or more and an annoy lipid profile then you will need medication. Otherwise continue healthy habits. If there is a strong family history of heart disease it is better to take some prophylactic medication in this age
