if the wax is impacted and hard its not advisable to remove it as it will cause lot of pain and injury to the skin of ear canal. though modern suction irrigation systems can remove moderately hard wax they are not easily available and procedure is expensive. most commonly performed method is to soften the wax with wax softners such as paradichlorobenzene and then remove it by syringing or suction
