Early stage of pcos & high insulin

I am 25 and recently diagnosed with early stages of pcos as my ovary is enlarged and very scanty periods. I have very high insulin so doctor prescribed me with glycomate sr 500gm twice a day before lunch n dinner. I am asthametic too. Is there any side effects on starting this medicine and can I reduce some weight from it as I am a little overweight! ?
