The least trauma in ear-piercing is achieved when an ENT Surgeon pierces the earlobes using a wide bore double-bewelled needle as the sharp edges of the needle practically slide through the tissue with very little collateral damage which is seen when jewellers use a heated gold wire or a gunshot piercing device.
Gunshot devices also have a recoil issue making piercing inaccurate too.

Your best option is to meet an ENT Surgeon to pierce your child's ears.
