Dry and dark skin patxhes with itching

Over the neck, shoulder and arm patxhes of dry skin is formed. It is always itching. It has developed darkcolour due to itching I suppose. What could be the problem? It seems to be spreadi g on skinslowly. Earlierit was on neck and littlon shoulder now it is on the arms and the upper back as well. Please suggest.
