Down syndrome

My wife is pregnant and carrying 13 weeks. NT scan reports that nasal bone status unnosified. Due to which My wife has gone through the blood test to find the down syndrome. We have got the result as negative and the ratio is 1:2111 Whats is mean by negative here. We are worried much about our baby. Please explain. Thanks.

R u married in a relationship. Dont panic nasal bone will eventually get ossified by 20 weeks. Her age is also less which doesn't support anamolies. Don't worry

Hi, I understand your plight. Ratio of less than 1:250 is suggestive of high risk of downs syndrome. However, your wife's reports are much above the cut off levels. The nasal bone can be unossified in quite a few patients. In case of doubt do am integrated screening with a quadruple test & SOS genetic sonogram at 16 weeks. Rest assured, her reports prima facie look normal. Dr Sachin Dalal

U may need expert opinion at a center like mediscan . U may need amniocentesis. Ls consult yr gynaecologist

How much is the nt and cumulative test results is negative.. Then go for triple marker test at16 wks and anomaly scan at 18-19 wks.. It will clear the pics
