Does iron iv infusion change skin tone

My wife had low iron level and was recommended iron iv infusion. But after infusion her skin tone went darker. After one month there has been some improvement but still the original skin tone not restored. Is this a rare phenomenon? Is it permanent? Can any treatment speed up the recovery process
