Does Duphalac has any side effects

My wife is 15 weeks pregnant. She had constipation all her life. Now after starting iron, it has become worse. Doea taking Duphalac daily once has any side effects on baby or herself ?

Duphalac can at times cause raised blood sugars. However this a problem if she s diabetic. Its usually the first choice syrup given for constipation in pregnancy. She cn also take isabgol if that helps
