You have not mentioned the procedure done on the retina in your question. If it was vitrectomy for a vitreous haemorrhage it means the disease had already progressed to a very advanced stage. A bleed post surgery would suggest the disease process is still active. At this point it is difficult to say how things will progress. Laser is required at a future point when the bleeding settles down.
