Hi. I appreciate ur concern and care towards your Mother. From the history shared by you, I gather that she started showing signs of depression around 43 yrs of age which also approximately coincides with peri-menopausal age in females. Late onset depression and behavioural changes in females may b due to hormonal fluctuations during menopause (female hormones or
thyroid hormones) OR frustrations and disappointments in life leading to mild depression OR early signs of dementia OR late onset severe depression with psychosis. As mentioned by you, patient is not ready to take allopathic medicines for depression which were ongoing. You may consider starting Homoeopathy medicines which are safe and without any side effects and helps correct the Psychological-Neurological-Endocrinological-Immunological Axis of the body and hence eliminates the root cause. She may be having physical complaints as well along with above symptoms. One can start treatment for those and gradually observe the mind symptoms improving as well with Homoeopathy... :)
Next Steps
Investigations - CBC,
Thyroid profile,
Vitamin D3,
Vitamin B12 and MRI Brain to arrive to a conclusive diagnosis.
