Common reasons for depressive symptoms not improving after considerable time: 1. Inadequate dose of medication 2. Improper type of medication 3. Inadequate or improper use of medication- missing doses or not taking them long enough at the correct dose 4. High stress levels or triggers 5. Lack of managing stress or life events like lack of routine, diet, exercise etc 6. Use of alcohol, cannabis, nicotine or other illicit substances whilst using medications reduces their efficacy Please review the above and consult with your psychiatrist for further assistance. If the symptoms have not improved despite using a considerable dose of stalopram, you may need to add another type of antidepressant and/or (both) consider CBT additionally. Please do so after consulting with your doctor
