Gum recession is a result of chronic gum inflammation and occurs due to deposits of Calculus on the teeth. These deposits cannot be removed by toothbrushing alone and will require a visit to the dentist for professional teeth cleaning by a procedure called as scaling. Although complete reversibility of the gum loss that has occurred cannot be expected but the treatment should be instituted as soon as possible so that further damage is not there.
