Dear Doctor, My brother has been diagnosed with Dengue fever yesterday. His Platelets Count was 110000 on day before yesterday. Doctor recommended medicine and fluids like coconut water etc but did not admit him asked to rest at home. Today his Platelets Count came down to 69K. However patient is feeling better than yesterday. Is this cause of concern? Shall we admit him immediately as his Platelets Count is coming down. I am too much worried. If doctor does not admit him today. Shall we consult with another doctor for second opinion. Please guide.

If the patient is feeling better let him continue with plenty of fluids. Get platelets checked again in the evening. If count remains more or less same, no need for admission. Consider admission if platelet count drops to 20,000.
