He is diagnosed with dengue on 4th aug morning and since then admitted to Apollo. Till today no progress and he is now unable to eat anything as he vomits after eating. This is second time he has got dengue, first time it happened 2years back. His platelet count has dropped to 27k now from 1.4lac.
Is there anything serious? Doctors have also sent his samples for culture but report is yet to come.
Yes...it is serious..if there are signs of thrombocytopenia like rash, petechiae, bleeding then platelet transfusion may be needed..
You have admitted pt already,so pt is in good hands now.
If platelets is less than 50 thousand then admit the patient for further evaluation which is already done. REST and HYDRATION are the two most important aspect for the patient.
