It is very much possible that he may be asking same question again and again. As for as dementia is concerned, it is very premature to say. If he had developed earlier then his condition can worsen after covid-19 infection. Contact a neurologist and psychiatrist for evaluation. It may be due to hypoxia, drug toxicity or inflammation in brain. He needs proper diagnosis. Then accordingly treatment could be planned.
Next Steps
visit a neurologist and psychiatrist
Health Tips
this state should not be taken lightly. it may not be fatal but if it worsens . then it would be a burden for other family members.

Hi... Please take a Psychiatric Consultation. Covid-19 is causing various such complications even after recovery and there is hardly any data to make reasonable conclusions. But a competent Psychiatrist will be able to identify the exact cause of it and suggest effective treatment. If his treatment involves counselling/psychotherapy. Do reach out. Remember, this forgetfulness may be caused by some other age related condition as well.
Next Steps
Seek a Psychiatrist first and then a Psychologist.
