Atrial fibrillation can occur due to some electrolyte disturbances which is common in kidney diseases Other thing could be because of age related changes in heart Echo should be done to see whether it's valvular AF or Non valvular AF If AF persists rate control therapy along with anticoagulation is recommended

AT can occur associated with any acute illness. Considering her age and renal failure she is at likely at a  very high risk situation which needs to be tackled first. AF rate can be controlled with beta blockers whenever it occurs. If AF is recurrent, should consider anticoagulation also.
