I gave birth to my first daughter naturally over 15 weeks ago and I had continuous bleeding until 10 weeks and now I stop for a few days and start again for a few days. It varies from dark brown to bright red. It comes with cramping. For a while I thought it was my period but with how often it stops and starts I don't think it is.
