Feeling ignored by others can be a very distressing experience. In addition you have mentioned you are not able to speak to others easily, which may further worsen the problem.
I would suggest a complete evaluation to know the frequency and severity of the continuing sadness you have mentioned and to check for presence of any other symptoms. It would be worthwhile to understand how feeling ignored by others contributes to this. Only then can an appropriate treatment be suggested.
