Composite filling issue
I have filled my cavity with composite filling 6 months back and i heard that amalgam fillings last longer. Can i remove composite filling now and fill it with amalgam? Also whenever i ear or drink colored food, filling gets stained. Any solution to keep it not stained?

Amalgam is not aesthetic material,so couldn't be applied in all cases.secondly,amalgam is highly toxic due to presence of mercury. Because of its toxicity amalgam is avoided now a days. Though definitely amalgam may last longer. There are subtitutes of amalgam are also available in the market like CENTION N which lasts longer like amalgam and aesthetic like composite.
In front teeth composite is better option. If it become discolored and you want permanent solution go for crown or veneers over composite.

see amalgam do last longer but it is a primitive material now ,it was discontinued due to its toxic effects on the body as it ages, also it also stains your tooth in the long run .
composites are the best if placed properly and last longer too (10yr n more) (if placed properly)
also they are aesthetic unlike amalgam .

also even our very own tooth gets stained while having food ,all you can do is avoid tea coffee and other tooth staining food .
