Hello, I understand your concern
Most colds are viral and resolve in 5–7 days without antibiotics. Running nose is protective – helps clear infection. Do not try to suppress it aggressively.
Ensure: Plenty of fluids, Continue regular feeding, Maintain nasal hygiene
Next Steps
Use normal saline nasal drops (2–3 drops per nostril) 4–6 times/day - Helps in decongestion and easier breathing, especially before feeds and sleep.
Antihistamine (if needed): For persistent clear discharge or disturbed sleep: Levocetirizine (e.g., Levolin M, Teczine)
For 8.8 kg: ~1 mL of Levocetirizine 2.5 mg/5 mL once at night
No antibiotics unless signs of secondary infection (fever >3 days, purulent nasal discharge, ear pain).
Avoid OTC cough/cold syrups with multiple combinations in under-2 children due to side effects and limited benefit.
