Treatment depends on the cause. Cough can be dry cough or wet cough. Reason can be infection or non infection. Repeated use of medication without evaluation is not good. Some medicines have side effects.

Greetings It's better to avoid maxtra less than 4yrs , u can use cetrizine syrup in place of it

If your child is active, playful and breathing comfortably, then usually there is no need to panic. A few doses of medicines like Maxtra/Kufril are unlikely to cause harm if given in proper dose. The concern is mainly that cough-cold combination syrups in small children often give very limited benefit and can sometimes cause side effects like sleepiness, fast heartbeat or irritability. For simple viral cold, supportive care is most important: - Nasal saline drops - Fluids - Steam/humidified air - Honey if age >1 year Please avoid repeatedly giving old prescriptions without current pediatric advice, especially if fever, fast breathing, wheezing, poor feeding or persistent cough develops.
