Avoid common irritants such as dust,pollen and sudden temperature changes.
Drink plenty of water.
Use a humidifier.
Try nasal saline sprays or rinses.

An upright or semiupright posture, such as sleeping with the head and shoulders raised, may decrease cough related to pharyngeal secretions...do warm saline gargling twice a day with OTC medication if symptoms persists more than 3 days even after OTC medication consult physician they will help you.
