Can anyone help me understand why cef200 is prescribed post toe fracture. got cymerol forte and nucoxia mr8. but do not understand why antibiotic is required for 2 weeks for Hairline fracture of right fifth middle phalanges

If you have a open wound then antibiotics like cef 200 is required, also if you have uncontrolled sugars (diabetes), or any signs of infection or cellulitis then also antibiotics might be needed

If it’s a closed fracture (no open wound) the antibiotics are not required If there is more swelling of foot ,if skin condition is bad ,if comorbidities present can be used as prophylactic to prevent infections
