Hello, The depth of your cavity will decide whether your tooth should get a filling or root canal treatment. So, to come to that conclusion, you need an intra oral xray. On the xray, if the cavity is deep and by deep i mean involving your pulp and by pulp i mean the blood and nerve supply of your tooth, then,  you have to get it root canal treatment ASAP. IF your cavity is not deep enough then a filling can be done. So, clinical pictures and xray pictures are important. Stay safe!

Hello sir It is difficult to diagnos without taking consideration of X-ray in this kind of cases. I would like to suggest you to share x ray for clear view and proper diagnosis. I would  like to know that have you ever felt pain or sensitivity in the same tooth any time before? Thank you

Hello Sir The opinions that both the doctors have given must have been based on the radiographic as well as clinical examination. It would be better if you can upload the x-ray of the tooth for a better clarity. Because if the x-ray shows the damage has reached the nerve of the tooth definitely RCT followed by capping would be the treatment option; but if the cavity is away from the nerve and you're not having any pain as such then only filling will suffice. Generally capping is done after root canal treatment.
