Cat Scratch vaccination
I got a cat scratch on my left hand. Its superficial very little blood came like a dot. I want to know how many dose of antirabies vaccine. Im not vaccinated before. And tbe cat is a stray cat..so no history on its vaccination. Pls answer my question.

Rabies is a 100% fatal illness if contacted and yet is vaccine preventable. The vaccine is better taken even if you have a little doubt especially with stray animals who might not show symptoms for months.
Yours is a Category 3 injury so you will require 5 doses of Rabies vaccine on Day 0,3,7,14 and 28 along with Immunoglobulin administration.
Tetanus toxoid 0.5ml IM one dose also has to be taken.

Clean the area with running water for 10 mins followed by dressing with betadine and topical mupirocin ointment.
Visit nearest healthcare facility to get vaccinated.
