Dear Junior colleague,
As the population is ageing and communicable diseases are decreasing, we are expected to diagnose more cancers in the coming years. Every family now got someone with cancer. It’s very normal to have a high health anxiety when near and dear ones get some disease, but as a medic we should be scientific enough not to make into a phobia. With Corona stress, we all are undergoing tough times including your parents and innumerable number of patients waiting to be treated by you. Keep your spirits high and avoid overthinking.
All lumps are not cancer unless proved.
It’s time you have to show this lesion to a GP and get a biopsy if needed. Reading through history, as an oncologist I am not very worried about diagnosis of tumor but to be on the safer side, we should rule out objectively as it’s an era of evidence based medicine.
Next Steps
Consult your GP and get a biopsy if needed.
Health Tips
Practice some mind relaxation techniques to reduce anxiety and if needed talk to your psychiatrist.
