Hi, stopping cannabis is an important step. Cannabis withdrawal and Cannabinoid Hyperemesis Syndrome (CHS) can have overlapping symptoms, so it may be difficult to distinguish them without a medical assessment. Since your symptoms have persisted for a month, please consult a doctor experienced in CHS or addiction medicine. If you have persistent vomiting, severe abdominal pain, or signs of dehydration, seek urgent medical care. Avoid restarting cannabis to manage the symptoms.

Stopping is a big step, and it’s understandable to feel confused right now. The two conditions can overlap, so it’s worth knowing the difference. CHS mainly shows up as repeated episodes of nausea and vomiting in people who have used cannabis regularly for a long time. Hot showers often bring relief. The only lasting treatment is stopping cannabis completely, which you’ve already done. withdrawal more often shows up as irritability, anxiety, restlessness, poor sleep, vivid dreams, low appetite, and cravings. It usually peaks in the first week and settles over about 2–4 weeks. A doctor needs to examine you to tell which one you have. Either way, staying off cannabis is the right path, and the coming weeks are when support matters most.
Next Steps
See a physician soon, especially if you’re vomiting, so they can check you and confirm what’s going on. Consider a few sessions with a psychologist to manage cravings, sleep, and anxiety during this period, and to plan what to do in the situations where you used to smoke.
