Colonoscopy is an investigation  used to look for changes in the large intestine and rectum . If necessary, polyps or other types of abnormal tissue can be removed through the scope during a colonoscopy. Tissue samples (biopsies) can be taken during a colonoscopy as well. Bleeding is not from hemorrhoids alone .Any rectal bleeding for long time in above 40 yrs , warrants investigation
