Below test belongs to my mother full health check up. She has Sugar, thyroid, Uric Acid, blood pressure are under control or border line high. her test results of kidney, liver are normal. She has benign cysts in liver from her young Age, is the result below elevated for same? Pls advise. CA-19.9, Serum Cancer Antigen or CA 19-9 is a tumour marker produced by cancer cells in pancreatic cancer, stomach cancer and colon cancer. This blood test is done to monitor treatment of pancreatic cancer and other related types of cancer. It is also done to detect recurrence of cancer. Impact on overall health? This test assesses your risk of pancreatic cancer, gallbladder and bile duct cancers (cholangiocarcinoma), colorectal cancer, gastric cancers, ovarian cancer, lung cancer and liver cancer. Your Result Value 49.8 U/mL - Concern Normal Value - 0-37 U/mL

CA 19.9 can be raised mildly in benign conditions as well other than pancreatic and GI malignancies.  It is not a tumor specific marker. Meet a medical oncologist for physical examination. Imaging if will be advised if necessary to rule out any specific causes after assessing the patient in person.
