Brown discharge and no period

Periods are irregular and after 40 days observed brown discharge for some time and it is stopped. A day after again it appeared and stopped. It has been a week but period did not start. Urine pregnancy test was negative. Could you please tell what this could be?

When was ur last period. N when u did UPT. As it should be done 10 days after missing periods. Before that it can give false results
