Breastfeed and saliva

Hi I m simran ...Want to ask for my 3 months baby 1.the day he was born he was taking my breast feed in a low quantity...but that too not directly...with d help of breast nipple...now milk flow is reducing day by day...Plz suggest me what to do....and if he doesn't take my feed what are the consequences . 2. Now he is secreating saliva...and he is putting his hand in mouth even after having milk 3. I'm using lactogen 1 ...can I give cow milk or not 4. I just want to know d reason why before 6 months we can't give water to babies. 5. Baby is suffering from phelgm due to that sometimes he vomits and I m giving nasal drops and Asthakind ...Plz suggest how  can I remove the phlegm.

To answer your questions: 1.The two most important factors for good lactation are a good healthy balanced diet by you and regular suckling by the baby.If both of the above are being done,you can try cap lactare 2 caps thrice a day and tab perinorm twice a day,both for 2 weeks,if effective,continue for 3 months,otherwise stop. 2.Both are normal,putting hand in mouth is NOT always a sign of hunger. 3.Give ONLY formula milk till 9 months of age,NEVER cow's milk,as formula is closest in composition to human milk,and cow's milk causes allergy very commonly in children. 4.Milk is 99% water,and since babies are exclusively on milk feeds,that's why. 5.Do NOT use any medicine,give just steam inhalations for cold or nasal block.
