My father has bilateral medula stroke last year. He is also a patient with heart issues, one stent last year. It's been 7 months he has been on tracheostomy. What are the timelines generally. Some rehabs say we can downside TT and some say not right now. How to decide on this

This depends on a variety of factors …is there cuff with the tube ? And if it is inflated or deflated What is the feeding status of the patient Is he taking oral feeds ? Does he cough while eating or drinking ? How many number of times do u have to do suctioning ? Kindly consult so that I can help you

Hello, there are some criterias which has to be met to remove tracheostomy . Removing tracheostomy is also a step wise procedure done to ensure the patient is able to breath and prevent aspiration.
