Hello, yes as suggested by your doctor all you need to absolute rest for your ankle. Usually at least for 3weeks. For this type of injuries pain is usually experienced when you bear weight and on attempting movement at the joint. This could delay healing. To avoid this you can use crape bandage, or plaster cast to limit movement at the joint. Avoid playing basket ball or any movement at the joint at least for 3weeks.
