Recently I had a bowel movement and noticed blood in my stool. It's bright red and at one point looked like a small clot upon wiping

It could be due to piles or fissures.  Eat high fibre food and drink plenty of water so that you don't have hard stools. If still there is bleeding then please see a doctor.
