Practice talking to strangers
You can start by having small talk with your grocery store cashier. âHiâ, or âHi how are you?â is all you need to start with.
Say yes to more things
Overcoming social anxiety is about getting out of your comfort zone. The more things you do that you arenât used to, the less fear you will have.
Seek medical treatment
I was diagnosed with chronic depression and was put on anti-depressants. I would also regularly have sessions with a physiatrist. The treatment did wonders for me and might do the same for you. Get evaluated by a medical professional and take action on your disorders. You deserve to live a happy a life.
Work on your confidence
Take a good look at yourself in the mirror and see what you donât like or would like to improve. Is it your figure? are you working out daily? are you eating healthy? what are you doing about it? You can become the person you want to become with a lot of hard work and time.
Smile more often
Smile more, even if you have to fake it. Youâll seem more approachable and can even make you a happier person, which will result in a confidence boost.
Strive to be less self-conscious
Everyone is after their self-interests, and donât really pay that much attention to everyone else. Try to stop thinking about what others are thinking of you. The reality is that they donât really care as much as you think and you are only overwhelming yourself with these negative thoughts. Be yourself and avoid people that are judgmental. They arenât worth your company.
Tell yourself that you do not have social anxiety
Sometimes it can be a self-fulfilling prophecy; if you believe that you will be anxious, then you will become anxious solely because of the belief that you think you will be anxious. Always think positive of yourself.
Conclusion
anxiety = fear, so take on what fears you head on. Seek medical attention to help you with the fight, and tell yourself that you are an awesome person that doesnât care what other people think and that you deserve to live a life without social anxiety weighing you down.
