Dear Ma'am,
Routine formal counting of fetal movements is not recommended for all low risk pregnancies. With early gestation the baby movements may be rolling or kicking with great intensity, however as the baby grows to term the size for movement and relative liquor decreases especially after 36 weeks, hence the baby movements would become only low intensity kicks. However, the frequency of movement does not change only type of movement changes with advancing gestation. An anterior placenta may diminish the intensity of transmitted movement through the anterior abdominal wall.
If you have any high risk factors in this pregnancy like FGR, Hypertensive disorders or
Diabetes you may do a fetal movement count, at least 10 in 2 hours, counted on lying to the left lateral position, is considered normal. If you feel no fetal movement for a day please visit your Obstetrician for check- up.
Regards,
Aditi
