Any Cure for Deep Mental Fear

2025-05-06 08:57:33
For the past two months, I’ve felt constantly weak, dull, and emotionally flat—like nothing excites me anymore. Even meditation hasn’t helped, despite my efforts. Most days, I feel low and disconnected. I struggle to express myself; even when I know what I want to say, I can’t say it clearly. Speaking fluently is tough—I pause, go blank, or stumble, especially when nervous. I have social anxiety and fear being judged. My confidence is low, and I often feel like I’m not good enough or capable. I can’t imagine a positive future. I depend on others because I don’t trust my own decisions. My memory feels weak, and I forget things easily. I’m scared to apply for jobs, fearing I’ll fail. I constantly compare myself to others and feel I fall short. I feel unworthy of success, and overthinking clouds my mind. Even small things like talk to on phone and phone calls cause anxiety. One of my deepest fears is driving—it makes me panic, and I avoid it completely. I’m trying, but I need a way out.

Thank you for being so open and honest about what you’re experiencing. From what you’ve shared, it’s clear that you’re dealing with a complex mix of low mood, emotional numbness, social anxiety, self-doubt, memory issues, and chronic overthinking—all of which are deeply affecting your confidence, daily functioning, and sense of purpose. As a counseling psychologist, I want you to know that what you are going through is not uncommon—and more importantly, it is treatable. What you’re describing sounds very consistent with clinical depression and generalized anxiety disorder, possibly combined with social anxiety and low self-esteem rooted in deeper cognitive patterns. What’s Likely Happening Psychologically: 1. Depression often shows up not just as sadness, but as emotional numbness, fatigue, difficulty concentrating, loss of pleasure in activities, and feelings of hopelessness—all of which you’re reporting. 2. Anxiety—especially social anxiety—can cause intense self-consciousness, fear of judgment, overthinking, and avoidance (e.g., phone calls, driving, job applications). 3. Cognitive distortions, such as all-or-nothing thinking, mind-reading, and self-comparison, are very common in people who feel like they’re “failing” or “not good enough.” These are not signs of weakness. They are signs your nervous system is overwhelmed, and your inner world is calling for healing, not punishment. You’re not broken. What you are experiencing is a mental health condition—not a personal flaw. With the right support, you will come out of this, often with a deeper understanding of yourself and life. You don’t have to figure everything out today. You just have to take one healing step forward. If you’re open to it, I can help guide you

Hi First, let me say this—you’re not broken, you’re overwhelmed, and it’s okay to ask for help. Everything you’ve described—emotional numbness, low confidence, social anxiety, decision paralysis, fear of failure, overthinking, memory issues—these are interconnected symptoms of Anxiety Disorder with Depressive features. It’s not that you’re incapable; it’s that your mind has been running on survival mode for too long, exhausting your emotional and cognitive energy. The good news is, CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) is highly effective for exactly what you’re facing. Step by step, you’ll learn how to manage overthinking, rebuild self-confidence, and gradually desensitize yourself from fears like speaking, applying for jobs, and even driving. Right now, your mind believes fear = danger, but with structured exposure, cognitive restructuring, and mindfulness in a therapeutic setting, you can rewire these patterns. You don’t have to fix everything at once—small victories will build your belief in yourself again. Take therapy, and you can connect with me on nine two six six seven two six zero six five.

Hi, first of everything, as a psychologist, I want you to understand that these are all symptoms of the problem you're going through. You are not these symptoms. Low confidence, low mood, negative views about future, memory problems, anxiety etc. This is similar to how fever, cough, sore throrat are symptoms of a flu. You should remember that these symptoms are temporary and not a permanent part of YOU. I will suggest taking therapy because you need little handholding and external motivation to deal with all these symptoms. Once these symptoms start settling down and you have accumulated some resources from your therapy sessions, you'll be good to move forward.✅️ I can also understand that there might be some stigmas attached with it, preventing you from taking therapy but my suggestion would be to try and experiment. 💫 I hope this helps🌻

Hi, I appreciate that you reached out with your concern. As you have described, I suggest you to consult clinical psychologist and consider psychometric test to find out if there is any personality issue that might cause this. Also consider techniques like cognitive-behavioral therapy. Tailored strategies to your specific needs with professional psychologist will help you. Since you have tried meditation and its not helping you as you have said, I recommend you to daily practice energising breathing techniques like bhastrika pranayama and kapalbhati pranayam. Also engage in daily exercise, walk before sleep and try journaling.

You are not alone in this. Many people silently go through similar feelings—exhaustion, loss of confidence, and fear of judgment. The intensity and consistency of your symptoms suggest that your mental health needs focused and compassionate attention. This isn’t your fault. It’s not about willpower or effort—it’s about getting the right kind of support.
Next Steps
Consult a mental health professional—a clinical psychologist or psychiatrist. What you're facing may benefit from psychotherapy (CBT, ACT) and medication support (temporarily if needed). You don’t have to carry this alone. Rule out physical causes—Fatigue and memory issues can sometimes be linked to deficiencies (like B12, iron, thyroid). Get a basic health check-up to rule those out. Break the cycle—Start with one tiny change daily. This could be journaling one anxious thought and one thing that gave even 1% relief. Small steps help rebuild momentum.
Health Tips
Practice self-talk rewiring: Start catching negative thoughts. For every “I can’t,” try adding “...yet” (e.g., “I can’t speak fluently yet.”) Exposure in baby steps: Avoidance reinforces fear. Begin with tiny exposure tasks (e.g., answering one phone call, driving for 2 minutes in an empty lane). Guided therapy: Seek help from a therapist trained in CBT or trauma-informed care. It can help you build confidence, manage panic, and regain clarity. Support system: Even if you can’t open up to people around you, a therapist or support group can become a starting point for emotional safety.
