🧠 My Opinion:
Voxitin 10 (Fluoxetine) is an SSRI antidepressant, and it's common for patients to experience side effects like nausea or vomiting initially. However, if the symptom persists even after 10 days despite taking antiemetics, and there is no clinical improvement, this may indicate poor tolerability or a mismatch in medication choice.
In some sensitive individuals, GI side effects can continue longer than expected or become intolerable. Additionally, Fluoxetine has a long half-life, so side effects may linger even after discontinuation.
Next Steps
🩺 Next Steps (What should the patient do next?)
Do not stop the medication on your own.
Consult your prescribing psychiatrist immediately to discuss this side effect.
A change in molecule (e.g., Escitalopram, Sertraline, etc.) or dose adjustment might be required.
Ensure no interaction with food habits or other medications is worsening the nausea.
Rule out unrelated causes of nausea like gastritis or hormonal issues.
Health Tips
💡 Helpful Tips / Word of Caution
Always take SSRIs after food to reduce gastric irritation.
If vomiting is severe, you may get dehydrated—keep yourself hydrated.
Don't experiment with stopping or switching medications without guidance.
Improvement in mood or anxiety symptoms may take 2–4 weeks, so early assessment is mostly for side effects, not efficacy.
