ADD, Hyperactive, speech
My son is 5.5 yrs old and is suffering from spectrum disorder. He lacks eye contact, attention span is less than 10-15 seconds. He was hyperactive in the past and that has come down by therapies. However, he is hypersensitive now meaning, gets upset very soon, is very emotional and hurts himself when denied things life phone, wallets etc.
He speaks for his requirements only and lacks free speech or questioning skills.
Does not like book and pencil. He can write on black board with chalk, however shows big tantrums when replaced by book and pencil. Full day or effort will go waste,for writing on book.
I read about Ritalin and Adderal. Can it help him? Is there is specialist who can treat him and suggest the right medication for him, along with the therapy we are taking him too?

Can I know where are you taking your son for therapy? As in what specialist? I'm surprised that your therapist has not been able to recommend you a child psychiatrist so far. Also, the drugs you have mentioned above are for treating ADHD children. But you said that with therapies he has become less hyper so then why be inclined on those drugs? There are a few more effective drugs in the market for treating ADHD and should be administered only if needed. Your son requires a combination of medicines along with special education therapy to see an improvement in his learning.
