I had accident which lead to injury In leg and broken bone , doc say they di operation after 1 week after wound healing..Is it necessary before operation that external wound should heal..

Yes follow your doctor's advice. Adequate washout and antibiotics with surgery can be done atleast 24 hrs from the time of injury. If you have passed that time then you might have to wait if after 48 to 72 hrs

Absolutely, operating on a bone without proper soft tissue cover is disastrous. Meanwhile, an external fixator can be applied to provisionally stabilise the joint.

If you have a broken bone with external wound in the leg close to the break, you may need early intervention to clean the wound and stabilise the fracture. If the wound is contaminated, it needs thorough clean up, temporary stabilisation of the broken bone followed by definitive fixation of the bone. If the cut is not deep or not connected to the broken bone, we will wait for the swelling to improve before operation.
