Abdominal pain after mtp

My friend is facing moderate to low abdominal and lower back pain after getting the MTP (medical treatment of pregnancy). Please help us understand why the pain occurs, this pain reduces after the painkiller but we want to know how long the pain will take to vanish and if there are ways to reduce it without medicines.
