Abdominal Hernia

I've had an abdominal hernia for a few months now and it now protrudes more often. I went to the doctor last week and he told me that since it's not painful, he recomended I wait until it hurts because of risk of complication. He said he would have to cut across, push away its surroundings, push it back in, then sew it up. However, I have since heard of minimally invasive mesh surgery. I’m not obese and never had previous surgery, but he never mentioned this option. Should I take his advice or
