My 2 week old son doesn't wake up gor feed during the day and sleeps for very long stretches. I have to wake him up by scratching feets for feedings., and waking him up like this takes too long. He usually wakes for 3 to 4 hrs early morning around 2-3a.m. and doesn't sleep well then and needs frequent feeds that time. This keeps going on till 9 10 a.m. in the morning. he hasn't regained his birth weight yet. shud I be concerned about his feed schedule??

Newborn babies usually have long hours of sleep during there initial months of life . Ur baby may sleep for 14-18 hrs a day which is normal. Most babies are awake at night times hence crying for feeds too often. A good adequate feed is indicated by baby sleeping well for atleast 2hrs and wetting diapers well.
Next Steps
feed adequately every 2hrs, each feeding time should be for 20-30mins, child may fall asleep during feed after 5-10mins , kindly wake up child and continue feeding. usually babies loose weight initially later on they gain weight. ur baby should be gaining weight with adequate feeds. get a weight check after 1 week. mother should be having healthy balanced diet rich in iron , proteins and minerals so that u have adequate milk production, and helps baby gain nutrition required
Health Tips
1.feed baby every 2nd hourly even though baby is at sleep, awake the baby n feed. 2. proper burping post feeding for atleast 10-15mins

You need to mention what was the birth weight?? What is a present weight of a baby??How many times child is passing urine in 24 hours??  If child is passing urine 8 to 10 times a day and if activity and sucking is good, then you should not worry. There is something called demand feeding, means one should feed whenever child asks. Most of the newborns are awake in the night. and they sleep during daytime.
