chronic tonsillitis is a disease where there will be recurrent infection of lymphoid organs in our throat known as palatine tonsils.
in adult life these tonsils have no functions to perform and are not really requires for normal functioning of our body
you have to know that tonsillitis is not a absolute indication for tonsillectomy. decision to undergo surgery depends on patient who is suffering from the disease. if you feel that your problem is severe and interfering with your routine life then you have to decide on Surgery
without surgery or with surgery there are no long term consequences and undergoing surgery will not cause any problems in future, infact in cases of severe tonsillitis it will greatly improve quality of life
so if your symptoms are severe, recurrent you can undergo surgery, if you don't want surgery then it can be managed by taking antibiotics during acute episodes
