What causes the enlarged axillary nodes

What is the normal size of axillary lymph node? My father chest CT says enlarged axillary lymph nodes measuring 4.6*2.3*2.5. Infective etiology(like Tb) over malignancy.Few small ill defined alveolar opacities and ground glass nodules.Mild right pleural effusion.Paraseptal emphysema with subpleural blebs & bulla in both upper lobes.

normally axillary lymph node is not palpable bt in infective condition this is palpable. this show that body is infected. Size. Nodes are generally considered to be normal if they are up to 1 cm in diameter
