Hi, Totally understand your concern and it's important to address it. If Nasoclear saline drops falls on the eyes (even, by accident also), nothing to worry as it's simply saline drops. It doesn't cause infection/irritation and the eye normally clears it without problem and use of water to wash is not recommended. Now what you're describing for your 3.5 month old infant is nasolacrimal duct block which happens as result of cold/blocked nose of the affected side (in this case right side). When it get blocked, the affected eye start pooling secretions which mimic conjunctivitis (eye infection). To relieve this block, just need to massage the right side of the bridge (of nose) from a top to bottom direction atleast 4 to 6 times daily. Sometimes viral infection (common cold) can also cause viral conjunctivitis and mimick this picture. So what to watch out for is redness of the affected eye, excessive irritability, involvement of both eyes with time, occasionally fever, etc where indication of antibiotic eye drop comes into play. Otherwise use Nasoclear saline drops liberally (1 to 2 drops per nostril) every 4 to 6 hours for 5 days and just need to watch and wait. Once cold resolves completely, so will be sticky discharge from eye. Hope it helps.
