My mother was diabetic patient from last 12 years. She neglected the diabetic medicine and her vision went to zero.

At age of 55yrs  ,history of uncontrolled diabetes since 12 yrs,complaints of  complete loss of vision,there  maybe two causes either development of proliferative retinopathy involving macula & it may be sudden development of cataract ,sometimes it occurs in diabetes patient.

There are numerous causes of vision in loss in diabetic eyes which include catarct and diabetic retinipathy. Consult an Ophthalmologist (preferably a retinal surgeon) who can evaluate her in detail and suggest treatment options
