Yes,it's effective,although the latest recommendations by IAP are to use normal DPT vaccine for primary vaccination in the 1st year.
Painless DPT vaccine is recommended at 4 and 10 years only.
Vaccine companies are aggressively pushing the painless combination for extra margin of profit,as these are pretty expensive,as compared to normal ones.
